So yes, Eggy's father saved his life, but Eggy's father would still be alive had he not made the mistake, so he caused Eggy's to grow up without a father!

What's interesting is that nothing that was done with the showcasing of the fight disproved what Eggsy was saying. He makes a fair point that he had/has a good head on his shoulders, a fit body, and the determination to chase his dreams. However, he put the people he cared about before his dreams which is arguably the correct decision to make.
